Documentation for Pierre Theme

Installation

To install the theme you must have a working version of WordPress already installed. This installation guide will help you install WordPress as well as it contains other useful info. You can upload the theme files in two ways: Through FTP or through WordPress dashboard.

  1. Using your FTP program
    Upload the non-zipped theme folder into the /wp-content/themes/ folder on your server.
  2. Upload Through WordPress dashboard
    Navigate to Appearance > Add New Themes > Install Themes
  3. Find Pierre.zip file that you downloaded after purchase on your computer
  4. Once the theme is uploaded, go ahead and activate it

Installing Plugins

The theme requires WooCommerce plugin to work properly. There are also three optional plugins that you can install to enhance WooCommerce functionality

After you have installed WooCommerce plugin, you will get a prompt to install WooCommerce Pages.

Next, you can configure your WooCommerce settings.

Header and Logo

To set up the header section go to Appearance > Customize and fill out the site title and tagline fields (note: you can omit the tagline field if necesssary). There is also an option to completely hide site title and tagline

Custom logo is easily uploaded through a corresponding option in the customizer. You can also uploaded a full-width custom header through the same option

There is also a dedicated placeholder for a top right header that can hold a search box, or can contain a phone number or a text greeting. It can be accessed through Appearance > Widgets.

Fonts

You can choose from a selection of custom Google fonts to customize the main menu fonts, headings fonts and body font.

Layout

The layout section gives you an option to choose between a full and boxed layout as well as your choice of left sidebar, right sidebar or no sidebar.

Colors

In the colors section you can select custom colors for sites's background as well as various text color options.

Background Image

A custom background image can be uploaded through a corresponding customizer setting.

Menus

The theme supports two menus.

Menus can be set up by going to Appearance > Menus.

  • Create A New Menu by clicking on create a new menu
  • Select the menu items on the left and drag and arrange them on the right
  • Choose the menu location to assign the menu at the bottom
  • Homepage Setup

    The theme features a dedicated full size front page template that feature a slider, a carousel and your custom content. To set the front page, go to Pages > Add New.

    Then go to Settings > Reading and assign you front page

    Slider Setup

    The homepage slider can be set up in the corresponding Customizer section. It is a full size slider that can hold up to 5 slides. In order for slider to function properly, the images have to be the same size.

    To activate the slider, make sure the "Hide Slider" option is unchecked

    You can caption the slides in the corresponding boxes (note: HTML tags are permitted) as well as link them to any internal or external pages by providing the Url in the Url box

    If you are using fewer than 5 slides, make sure to hide the unused slides by checking the corresponding box

    Homepage Content

    If you would like to display a greeting on the home page, go to Appearance > Widget and use a text widget to place your greeting in the corresponding box

    You can also display content with WooCommerce shortcodes. For example, the demo site uses the categories shortcode in the Homepage Featured are placeholder to display featured categories on the home page.

    This will yield the following:

    Carousel Setup

    Homepage carousel can be set up the the corresponding Customizer section. It can toggle between Recent products, Featured products and Sale products. You can show or hide sections by checking the appropriate boxes.

    Footer

    There are three boxes in the footer that you can use to display anything you like. Go to Appearance > Widgets.
